1. What is the "Work/Site Alliance - Community Based GIS Education Training Manual?

The Work/Site Alliance (W/SA) Training Manual is a training document which provides students, high school
teachers, undergraduate faculty and anyone who has an interest in geographic information science (GIS) an
opportunity to learn GIS concepts.The training manual chapters also provides exercises so that readers can
put their newly acquired knowledge to work. The Training Manual chapters were developed to provide students
learning GIS, the basic fundamentals needed to successfully work on GIS projects for their communities. The
Training Manual provides elementary, hands-on exercises for use with ArcView GIS software and real data
from the W/SA projects. The Training Manual may be used either in a home, classroom or workshop setting by
individuals.

2. What kind of materials will I find associated with the Training Manual?

Each chapters text is presented in Acrobat Reader format (*.pdf). You can download the individual chapters,
print them or save them to your hard drive to read offline. The exercises associated with each chapter are
compressed in Winzip format (*.zip).You will need to download the data in the exercises to perform the work
presented in the chapters.. To use Training Manual and Exercises you should have Adobe Acrobat Reader
and Winzip installed on your computer.
