About The Training Manual

Bringing GIS technology within reach.

The W/SA Training Manual is a training document that provides students, high school teachers, undergraduate faculty, and anyone who has an interest in GIS, an opportunity to learn GIS concepts and use those concepts with ArcView GIS software. The Training Manual chapters provide exercises so that readers can put their newly acquired knowledge to work. Each chapter was developed to provide students learning GIS with the basic fundamentals needed to successfully work on GIS projects elementary. The Training Manual provides hands-on exercises for use with ArcView GIS software and real data from the W/SA projects. The Training Manual may be used either in a home, classroom or workshop setting by individuals.

Obtaining Training Materials

The educational products the W/SA has developed are available for download from the IGRE website:http://igre.emich.edu 

To access the Training Manual Chapters and associated data sets, click on "GIS Training Manual".

The text of each of the Training Manual Chapters Are in Acrobat Reader format(*.pdf), and sample data needed to complete the exercises is compressed in WinZip format (*.zip). A section entitled "Frequently Asked Questions" has also been provided to assist users.
